| It is my great pleasure to welcome you all, participants and spectators along to this event and I trust that you will all enjoy the next three days of competition in our company. The GTTA was founded some 83 years and whilst we have hosted international events during that period, notably the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships, regular competition here in Guernsey was just not possible. Now, following the purchase of the Guernsey Table Tennis Centre, we are able to host such events as this on a regular basis and we are pleased to greet old friends and new friends. Guernsey is known for its friendliness and hospitality so of course we look forward to making new friends and hope that they, along with the old ones, leave, wanting to return. My thanks to Deutsche Bank and Sports Guernsey who have kindly sponsored this event and especially to those members of the association who have worked long and hard organising this tournament. There is nothing left for me to say other than, let play commence and the very best of luck to you all. |

| On behalf of the Guernsey Table Tennis Association it gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to this 1st Guernsey Mini Champs Challenge in Guernsey. Such an event cannot, of course, be staged without a great deal of behind the scenes organisation and I would like to express my thanks to all of those unsung heroes and heroines who have freely given their time and expertise to make this event possible. We have a first class referee in Brian Le Cras and I am sure that you will all support him in the running of this tournament. Finally, I hope that you all have an enjoyable and memorable weekend and that all the matches are hard fought but played in a good sprit. |
